Breastfeeding Challenge/ Celebration

The Breastfeeding Challenge/ Celebration is an annual event to have the most number of babies latched on and feeding at the same time in the same location.  This is world wide event started by Quintessence Foundation of BC.   This event celebrates breastfeeding and milk-banking, and demonstrates promotion, protection and support for breastfeeding women and their families. It’s a chance for education and peer support done in a fun social way.

From Quintessence:

"When the Quintessence Breastfeeding Challenge was first undertaken in 2001, we did not realize that 17 years later public breastfeeding would still present a major challenge for many women. In recognition of this fact, we have kept the original title of the event. We have received some feedback stating that some women find breastfeeding easy and therefore don’t relate to this title. Whereas this is true for some, our breastfeeding statistics clearly indicate that mothers are not achieving their own breastfeeding goals and that society still makes it challenging to breastfeed. The Breastfeeding Challenge is one strategy to help spread the word globally that breastfeeding is normal and an important strategy for child and maternal health. Truly, the road to lifelong health begins with breastfeeding". Quintesssence
